Starpointe Studio
About
Starpointe Studio is the printmaking and book arts studio of Joanne Price, a wood engraver and bookbinder based in Kentucky who specializes in hand-pulled relief prints, wood engravings, artist’s books, and hand-bound journals. Joanne’s practice is rooted in the meditative tradition of end-grain wood engraving — a process that produces fine, graphic imagery with a depth and intimacy that rewards slow looking.
Since moving to Kentucky in 2012, the state’s wild landscapes, dark night skies, and remarkable insects have shaped an evolving body of work centered on birds, animals, and the shared world between humans and the natural world. Her wood engravings have been collected in the US and Europe, and her work has been featured on KET (Kentucky’s PBS channel) and exhibited in venues including the Housatonic Museum of Art. She is also a nationally sought-after teacher, leading workshops at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Penland School of Crafts, and the Kentucky Crafted Market.
Starpointe Studio work is available at the Kentucky Crafted Market, at Crafted Social events, and at starpointestudio.com.
