About

Fishing Creek Jewelry is the studio of Jarod Cox, a metalsmith and lapidary artist based in Somerset, Kentucky, who crafts wearable art from locally-sourced stones and sterling silver. Jarod grew up along the edges of Fishing Creek in Pulaski County, where as a child he sculpted beads from Kentucky clay and collected geodes — a habit that evolved into a lifelong obsession with the stones and materials of the region.

A Berea College graduate with a bachelor's in studio arts, Jarod learned metalsmithing under mentor Tim Glotzbach and honed his approach through Berea's Accelerated Artists Program before becoming a full-time maker. His signature work features Kentucky agate and quartz that he personally collects, cuts, and polishes before setting them in handcrafted sterling silver bezels — pieces that carry the spirit of the Appalachian landscape into everyday jewelry.

Jarod's work has been featured at the Kentucky Artisan Center, the Log House Craft Gallery, and the 123 Gallery. He participates regularly in the Kentucky Crafted program, the Berea Craft Festival, and Lexington-area markets. Find his work at fishingcreekjewelry.com.
